Director of Interventional Endoscopy Services (IES) at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). Master Endoscopist of the Year Award in 2013 (MASGE) He has trained and mentored endoscopists from all corners of the world.
Dr Binmoeller’s training and professional positions have been split between the United States and Europe. He attended medical school at the University of Freiburg in Germany and the University of Bern in Switzerland, followed by internal medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and gastroenterology fellowship training at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon.
Prior University faculty appointments: Nice, France (CHR Cimiez, 1990-1991) , Hamburg, Germany (UKE, 1991-1998), San Diego USA (UCSD, 1998-2001).
Dr Binmoeller’s practice of advanced interventional endoscopy has inspired Innovation to improve outcomes and enable new devices and procedures. He is the inventor of the AXIOS lumen-apposing stent and holds over 50 patents for innovative endoscopic technologies. He has authored more than 200 publications and several books.
