Pierre Deprez is Professor of Gastroenterology at the Université Catholique de Louvain and Head of the Endoscopy Clinic in the Hepato-GI department at Cliniques universitaires St-Luc. He graduated in 1986, completed GI specialization in 1991, and was further trained in Germany, France, UK, USA, India and Japan. He is member of the BSGIE, SRBGE, AGA, ASGE and ESGE, and advisor for GI coding at the Belgian NHS. He has authored / co-authored more than 200 peer reviewed publications and textbook chapters. He performs live endoscopy demonstrations on a regular basis, endoscopy training in live animal and experimental models, and lectures in national and international meetings. His clinical and research interests focus on pancreatology and interventional endoscopy, particularly related to EUS, ERCP and EMR/ESD procedures. He was one of the pioneers in interventional EUS reporting the first EUS guided pancreatic rendez-vous and combining EUS with ERCP in the EUCP concept, and in cholangioscopy and advanced endoscopic imaging.
